What is Juahaki AI?

Juahaki AI is a WhatsApp-based AI legal assistant built for Kenya. It provides instant legal guidance, generates professional legal documents, and connects you with LSK-verified advocates — all through WhatsApp. "Juahaki" means "Know Your Rights" in Kiswahili.

Is Juahaki AI a substitute for a real lawyer?

No. Juahaki AI provides legal information and guidance to help you understand your rights and options. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. For complex matters, court representation, or official legal advice, you should consult a licensed advocate. We can connect you with one when needed.

How does Juahaki AI work?

Simply send a message to our WhatsApp number with your legal question. Our AI analyzes your question against verified Kenyan law — including the Constitution, Acts of Parliament, regulations, and case law — and responds with clear, cited guidance within seconds. No app download needed.

What makes Juahaki AI different from searching Google?

Unlike generic search results, Juahaki AI specifically analyzes Kenyan law and provides responses tailored to your situation. Every response includes citations to specific laws and regulations so you can verify the information. It also understands follow-up questions and context from your conversation.

Do I need to download an app?

No. Juahaki AI works entirely through WhatsApp, which is already installed on most Kenyan phones. Just send a message to our number and start getting legal guidance immediately.

Costs, M-Pesa, subscriptions, and refunds

How much does Juahaki AI cost?

We offer three tiers: Free (5 questions per month at no cost), Pay-Per-Use (KSh 25 per question for detailed legal analysis), and Subscriber (KSh 300 per month for unlimited questions plus 10% off documents). Legal documents are priced separately, starting from KSh 150.

How does M-Pesa payment work?

When you ask a paid question or request a document, Juahaki AI sends an M-Pesa STK push notification to your phone. Simply enter your M-Pesa PIN to confirm payment. The process takes less than 10 seconds, and your legal response is delivered immediately after payment confirmation.

Can I get a refund?

If our AI fails to provide a response to your query due to a technical error, your credit is automatically refunded to your account. For other refund requests, contact our support team via WhatsApp or email at help@juahaki.ai and we will review your case within 24 hours.

What is included in the free tier?

The free tier gives you 5 legal questions per month with basic legal guidance. Responses include legal citations and are available in both English and Swahili. No payment method or registration is required to start — just message us on WhatsApp.

Is the subscription auto-renewing?

No. The KSh 300/month subscription requires manual renewal via M-Pesa each month. You will receive a reminder on WhatsApp before your subscription expires so you never lose access unexpectedly.

How much do legal documents cost?

Document prices vary by complexity: Demand Letter (KSh 150), Tenancy Agreement (KSh 200), Affidavit (KSh 200), Employment Contract (KSh 300), and Sale Agreement (KSh 500). Subscribers receive a 10% discount on all document prices.

What legal documents can Juahaki AI generate?

Currently we generate: Demand Letters, Tenancy Agreements, Employment Contracts, Sale Agreements, and Affidavits. Each document is professionally formatted, compliant with Kenyan law, and delivered as a downloadable PDF. We regularly add new document types.

How does document generation work?

The process is simple: (1) Tell us which document you need, (2) Answer a series of guided questions via WhatsApp to provide the necessary details (names, dates, amounts, etc.), (3) Pay via M-Pesa, (4) Receive your professionally formatted PDF document within minutes. You can review and request changes if needed.

Are the generated documents legally valid?

Our documents are drafted to comply with Kenyan legal requirements and use standard legal language. However, some documents may require notarization, witnessing, or stamping to be fully enforceable depending on the type. Juahaki AI will inform you of any additional steps needed for your specific document.

Can I edit a document after it is generated?

The PDF is delivered as a final document. If you need changes, you can request a new generation with updated details. We recommend reviewing all the information carefully during the guided Q&A process before payment.

Connecting with real lawyers

What if I need to speak with a real lawyer?

Juahaki AI can connect you directly with LSK-verified advocates who specialize in your area of need. When your matter is too complex for AI guidance — such as court representation, complex disputes, or criminal matters — we automatically offer to escalate to a human lawyer. You can also request an advocate at any time.

How are advocates verified?

All advocates on our platform are verified through the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). We check their practicing certificates, specializations, and disciplinary history. We also monitor client ratings and response times to maintain quality standards.

How much does an advocate consultation cost?

Advocate consultation fees vary by lawyer and complexity of your matter. The fees are set by the advocates themselves and are separate from Juahaki AI pricing. You will see the advocate's rates before confirming a connection, so there are no surprises.

Can I choose which advocate to connect with?

When escalation is needed, Juahaki AI matches you with advocates who specialize in your legal area and are currently available. You can view the advocate's profile, specializations, and ratings before confirming. You can also browse our advocate directory on the website.

Privacy & Security

Data protection and your rights

Is my conversation private?

Yes. We comply fully with the Kenya Data Protection Act (DPA) 2019. Your conversations are transmitted over WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption. On our side, your data is stored securely and we do not share your personal information or conversation content with third parties.

Can I delete my data?

Absolutely. Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, you have the right to request deletion of your personal data at any time. Simply send "delete my data" on WhatsApp or email help@juahaki.ai, and we will process your request within 72 hours. This includes all conversation history, personal details, and generated documents.

Who can see my conversations?

Your conversations are only accessible by our AI system for the purpose of providing legal guidance. Human staff may access anonymized conversations for quality assurance and AI improvement, but personal identifiers are removed. If you escalate to an advocate, relevant conversation context is shared with your consent.

Do you store my M-Pesa details?

We do not store your M-Pesa PIN or sensitive financial details. Payment processing is handled securely through Safaricom's Daraja API. We only store transaction references for your payment history and receipt purposes.

Can I switch between English and Swahili?

Yes, you can switch languages at any time during your conversation. Simply start typing in your preferred language and the AI will automatically respond in the same language. There is no need to change any settings.

Does Juahaki AI work on all phones?

Juahaki AI works on any phone that has WhatsApp installed — both smartphones and feature phones that support WhatsApp. It works on Android, iPhone, and WhatsApp Web. No additional app installation is needed.

Is Juahaki AI available outside Nairobi?

Yes! Juahaki AI is available anywhere in Kenya — and anywhere with internet access, in fact. Our AI provides legal guidance based on Kenyan law regardless of your location. Our advocate network also covers multiple regions across Kenya, not just Nairobi.

Troubleshooting and getting help

What if the AI gives an incorrect answer?

While our AI is trained on verified Kenyan law and includes citations for verification, no AI system is perfect. If you believe a response is incorrect, please let us know by typing "report" in the chat. Our legal team reviews all reported responses. For critical legal matters, we always recommend verifying with a licensed advocate.

How do I contact support?

You can reach our support team through multiple channels: (1) WhatsApp — type "help" or "support" in your chat, (2) Email — help@juahaki.ai, (3) Contact form on our website. Our AI assistant is available 24/7, and our human support team responds Monday-Friday, 8AM-6PM EAT.

The M-Pesa payment failed. What should I do?

If your M-Pesa payment fails, check that: (1) You have sufficient balance, (2) Your M-Pesa PIN was entered correctly, (3) You are not exceeding daily M-Pesa limits. You can try again by resending your question. If the issue persists, contact us on WhatsApp with your phone number and we will investigate.

Can I use Juahaki AI for my business?

Yes! Many small businesses use Juahaki AI for contract review, employment law guidance, business registration help, and document generation. For organizations with higher volume needs, contact us about partnership and enterprise pricing options.
